My only complaint was that I was referred to the sleep center in December 2023 but could not get scheduled until April 2024. If I had a serious problem, I didn't think I would have Loved long enough to be evaluated.

my sleep technologist (I wish I would remember her name!) was great. She made me feel very comfortable and was very professional. Once she put the CPAP on me it was the best sleep I've had in years! Life-changing experience. The room was like a high class hotel the bed was super comfortable the office was super quiet.

I would only recommend Callalyn (Icanned remember the spelling given I have aphasia). I already did a survey I finished this morning. She is the woman took care of me. I only said you only want to have her. She dealt as quickly with slowing time for me to understand. I don’t recommend someone else given you cannot speak questions except calling before 430pm or call at 8:30 and only ask for her. I had a sleep home study prior and that is when two people were no helpful. The 1st question and the last are the same question.

My only issue, which was a significant problem, was noise from a TV in another room that was on at least until 1AM. It kept waking me up. There really should be soundproofing in the walls and door for rooms used to conduct sleep studies, and someone should be monitoring such noise and making sure TVs are kept at very low volume.

There were no instructions on what to expect regarding receiving results. As my mother's ride and POA, I had no idea I was expected to be able to facilitate a virtual visit to review the results. I received a phone call from a nurse 2 hours after leaving the facility and also after taking my mother back to her assisted living facility and while I was working. I asked the nurse if we could set a time to do this and she didn't seem to be able to answer me. I told her I would call back and when I did so I could not get in touch with a live person. I left a voicemail for someone to call me back and haven't heard from anyone, yet.

The directions were good on getting to the location and everyone was courteous. My room was OK. I ended up listening to a dripping shower all night, so not the best sleep I've ever had. I told them that before I left - so I'm sure that will get fixed.. I didn't meet with a doctor and I was not told how/when I would get any results. So, facilities and people were nice. But next steps are/were unclear.

You ask the same question, What is your overall experience, twice, why? I would have liked a cooler room, it wasn't terrible, just not how I usually sleep. Longer wires would have been nice, having to sleep on my back or right side was not optimal. Someone with GERD is advised to not sleep on the right side.

The bed was totally uncomfortable. I was forewarned that the pillows would not be good, but I have never touched the pillow that was that bad. I had bathed before I came, but when I got into the bed and got out a few minutes later, I noticed Black lint on the sheets. Unless that black lint was there before or unless I picked it up from the floor going to the bed I did not bring it into the room. Apparently I slept enough time to get a reading on my sleep apnea, but I doubt I slept more than 2 to 3 hours. There were holes in the walls which seem to have come from damage from furniture. It was definitely not a room. I would want to spend another night in.

The written and verbal communication I experienced with Ascension St. Thomas Sleep Center before my sleep study was good. I was told verbally three or four times that the exact cost of my portion of the sleep study would be $225.55, and that I would need to bring that amount in cash to my sleep study. This seemed strange to me, so THE DAY BEFORE MY SLEEP STUDY, I called Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee to confirm this. The customer service agent called the Center for Sleep at Ascension St. Thomas Mid-town to verify this, and confirmed that the $225.55 was indeed 15% of the total cost of the sleep study – my portion due based on what my insurance pays. In addition, I also received the request in writing to bring in $225.55 cash to my sleep study in the form of a document, which was attached to one of the emails the center sent me prior to my sleep study. When I arrived for my sleep study and tried to give Karen my money, she said I didn’t owe anything. I was flabbergasted to say

I didn’t care for the way the mask felt. The doctor body shamed me by telling me to lose weight or get bariatric surgery. He didn’t offer any other mask options except pt to get used to the mask. I felt disrespected by Dr. Haynes and I’ll never return to his practice again. I’ll figure out the results with my primary care physicians. I have lost 55 pounds since June. How dare he body shame me just because I didn’t like the two mask options offered.

Individual bathrooms would be nice to have. I have a hard time sleeping due to lights and sound so unfortunately I had a very difficult time actually sleeping for the sleep study. Calley was my tech and she was very sweet and patwith me!

My technician was great. She was gentle in nature and empathetic to struggles with sleep. Tracy made small talk and helped me be comfortable in the environment. I was called in extremely last minute and she was efficient in getting me hooked up quickly so that I could be asleep by my typical bedtime. I sincerely appreciate that there was a fan in the room. When the one in the room had a slight rattle, Tracy found me a different option without my even having to ask. The room itself was as basic, but got the job done. The blankets are very thin and not soft or cuddley. They are really only slightly thicker than the top sheet. I was quickly brought a second one upon request. I did find it odd to have the jack and jill bathroom shared between sleeping rooms. The light seeping under the door and the sounds coming from the shared space (flushing, sink water running, auotmatic towel dispenser and especially the lock/unlock on your bedroom door) are disrupting for a light sleeper.

I had a very restless sleep. My bed was too firm which made trying to get comfortable very difficult. The room was a little hot but Callye, the sleep technologist, gladly setup a fan for me which helped a lot. She was very helpful and informative! Should be asked in advance if you sleep in a certain side of the bed. It’s hard enough for me to sleep but add that. Really frustrating when I saw another room open that was opposite but not offered. Need better detail instructions of what to expect once they start. Is there a way to have softer light instead of main light on while getting hooked up. 1 hour later than normal to bed didn’t help Need nightlights in bathroom so tech doesn’t turn it on in middle of night. Softer hallway lights Was told to sleep on my back for a while and when I said that’s not comfortable a sigh.

Carrie was super awesome. She explained everything in a manner that I understood. When she had to wake me up She was professional. She didn't startle me when awakening me which for me is rare. When she put on the cpap machine she explained everything thoroughly to where I could understand it. She was kind and considerate. We need more people like her in the Medical Field. The sleep technician was amazing. I was there with my husband. He suffers from memory loss due to a brain injury in Viet Nam and uses Inspire. She was so understanding & concerned that my husband be comfortable & calm. When we left my husband commented over & over how wonderful & kind she was. I stayed in the room with him in the recliner and she did everything possible to help me be comfortable for the night. It is always a gift to meet someone like her who is professional AND kind. If I could make one suggestion (which I know can't be changed without a total reconfiguration & remodeling) it would be to have a private toilet for each room. The shower for us was not needed but just a toilet & sink that was private would have been nicer. That is the only reason I would not give excellent as overall experience. It is impossible not to hear the neighbor when they use the toilet & vice versa. For people who are very private as my husband is, the shared toilet is not the best option.

Comfortable, very informative covering what to expect, application of leads, different types of mask and fitt. Intervened as need during the night to record correct outcomes. Gave instructions on who would get results and what and how my doctor would respond to test results. Teck Cassye was superb! Bed was very comfortable!! Overall a truly great experience.

Did not appreciate having to go out of my room to use a shared toilet ( with a man that did not flush adequately), too hard for a with walking difficulty. Also testing unit needs to be portable so patient doesn't have to call technician every time need to use bathroom. Need a comfortable chair in room for patients who have back issues and are not accustomed to watching TV in bed. Mattress needs turned lumpy and sagging on testing side from very large patients using the same side.

The only comment I would give is that the TV in the room went to blue screen instead of off when powered down. Fournam was my tech and she was amazing. She was thorough explained every step of what was going on. It was a strange experience for me, being all wired in and Fournam was kind and took her time to make me feel comfortable with the process. I like that we are asked to be there early to allow time to decompress and relax in the space.

Betsy was the Sleep Technologist that talked me through the study process and procedures. And she knew how to attach the wiring harness to my head and body and did a great job. She also quickly responded when I asked for help to use. Bathroom etc. The bedroom was way too cold and I couldn’t read the thermostat to warm the room up. Heavier blankets should be available for those of us who need them. The directions to get the Sleep Study facility are not easy to follow. I walked around for at least 45 minutes trying to find. But the supervisor volunteered to come outside in the cold and drizzly evening to lead me to the facility. I think his name might be Alan. Nice guy and really helped me.

Mahmoud was not very professional. I was not pleased. There was no instructions on what happens whenever my son started the sleep study. After my husband and myself were talking the man came in the room without knocking and told us to be quiet and sit together to talk. The way he said it and as we were not given instructions about how the test worked before hand this was out of line. He also did NOT knock everytime he came in the room! Then he didn’t wear shoes after 11:30! He came in my son’s room without shoes on, just socks! The woman we had as well her name started with an F was AMAZING! She was so nice and polite! But as far as Mahmoud being our sleep tech (watched him) was terrible! Our son’s machine went offline for 10 mins and he never came in the room to fix it! We have to “talk” for him to come back in. I would love for a manager to call me and discuss this and how we were treated by this man!

Sleep teck went out of her way to help me find a mask that would fit. In three tries I have never been completely satisfied with one particular mask. I may have to give up the effort. Mg face can’t handle any mask. Not much sleep during the night. My teck sure tried. I ended up with a soft, hard to keep from leaking. air. I don’t see how having a mask will work for me. In not so be it.

Jamie (the Technologist on site at the time of my study) went above and beyond to make sure I felt safe and comfortable there. I stuggle with anxiety, ptsd, and panic attacks which sometimes are triggered by new environments. Ms. Jamie recognized the signs of my issues when they started happening and calmly talked me thru the entire process every step of the way to help minimize the triggers of those attacks aswell as found common interests (I enjoy my work and learning about others jobs) and talked about those interest as to help distract me from said triggers and minimize the attacks. Furthermore when my psnic attscks did hit she simply paused what she was doing (instead of trying to force me thru it) and calmly and patiently talked me down and back to normal before continuing. Overall: facility is 4 star (nothing wrong with it but nothing super special either) but on a scale of 1-5 for staff I would rate everyone a 10. Facility is standard but staff is beyond excellent. 5 stars!

Nearly impossible to sleep in those conditions. Having to wake up at 5:30AM was pretty rough, particularly after not falling asleep until 2AM. Am I going to be debriefed? I realize it takes time but it would be nice to at least know something.

I did not have a very good night, but that was not any fault of the facility or the technician. She was actually very understanding and helpful while I was having difficulty. One thing I might suggest for the technician is that when testing the Inspire Sleep remote before I left, it would have been helpful to have her remind me to turn the device off after turning it on to test. Because of the start-delay, I had driven away from the facility and was brushing my teeth when the device activated (after the start-delay period), so thankfully only had to go to retrieve the remote from my car to turn off the device. I'm glad it wasn't at home or a long way from where I was! I bear responsibility for this, but it would help if the technician would remind me.

Due to MY sleeping issues, I have to sleep in a recliner. Unfortunately the recliners in all the rooms are uncomfortable, by any standard. Of course as y’all know, between the wires hooked all over your knoggin, and uncomfortable recliner, then throw a mask over your face, y’all certainly have a challenge. I’ve been to 3 sleep appointments, between my own issues, and the formentioned conditions, probably not enough sleep occuring. However it’s no different than being at home, don’t sleep here either, just don’t have as many challenges preventing the chance.

Im currently in AFib and cancer scare. I needed this study as well as other test before they can put me under. The Center was able to gwr this side moving along and I thank you for that. I knew this was a sleep study but with everything else going on I was a little nervous and of the unknown. Jamie was the best! She made me so comfortable, she was very attentive to all my needs and explained everything to me. She even explained to me why my heart doc was testing for sleep apnea (which I didn’t understand). Jamie, generally appeared to love her job, her patients and helping them in bettering the quality of life. She isn’t there just for the paycheck as so many are these days. Bathroom should have a hook to hold monitor for men. Difficult to hold a monitor and use the facility at the same time. And I would be nice if the bathroom were in the bedroom. For somebody who gets up several times a night to use the bathroom, it’s difficult to fall back asleep after walking across the hall into a very brightly lit bathroom.

When I went in to take a shower to get the goop out of my hair, it was obvious the shower had not been cleaned because there was a wet towel and wash cloth in the shower. The evening of the sleep study for my son DeMario Bonds 11/09/2023 . Are appointment was at 7:30 pm of course we left home at 6:45 to arrive on time. Traffic was terrible. Of of course I use a CPAT machine too and left mine got to Sam Ridley Parkway realizing I had left mines. I had to get off of Sam Ridley Parkway and call to them I would be late because I didn't have my CPAP machine. The Nurse was so nice and stated they that I could use one of there's. And to come on. When making my initial appointment I was bummed out that it was already booked up a few months out. I asked Erica if she could put me on any sort of cancellation list. However, the building does not have the address on it and the directions to find the center at night was awful and NONE of the nurses coming out of the hospital knew anything about what, how or where the sleep center was. The sleep technologist and the physician were great. I do suggest that in the future the technologist should remind patients that they are being recorded even though there is a sign. Once in my room I was given a lot of information and the entire the sign was blocked by the technologist and even though I knew (not from being told), it never crossed my mind. I did not notice the sign until after changing into my pajamas and sitting in the chair so a reminder would be helpful. Also the bed was very uncomfortable as 5woke up stiff and with back pain so maybe a good mattress cover would add more comfort if a better mattress is not in the budget. And lastly, I would like to note that not everyone I spoke with over the phone was friendly or professional. The first lady I spoke with was a little rude and short when scheduling and discussing payment, but the lady that called the day before my appointment to ensure there were no questions was great.

I sacrificed a lot of money for my study. I was so miserable during the study because of my other health conditions. I'm trying not to worry that my results didn't come through accurately. I kept having to urinate throughout the night and was in so much excruciating pain. I know that I aggravated the person that was assigned to help me. I wasn't told how I will find out my results. I try calling and left a message it's been over a week and I was never called back from before my sleep study happened. I had only a couple of questions about how to be prepared for the study. No one has returned my call and I never get an answer.

The only issue I have is how long it takes from the initial Docs visit to string up appointments to my second sleep study was more than 4 to 5 months. If you’re being told that you have server sleep apnea and it takes that long for everything to be done. There’s an issue.

My Sleep Tech was wonderful! She explained everything very well & made sure I was comfortable. As someone who doesn’t go to sleep until 11/12:00 at night, it was surprising to be awakened at 5:30 am. I did let my Sleep Tech know this & we began the sleep preparation process after 11 pm. I think I fell asleep close to midnight. I am curious to know how complete the study was. I was told upon scheduling that the testing was until 7 am.

Excellent staff and facility. Person making patient calls should not have this position. It seemed her goal was to make as many calls as possible in the shortest amount of time. Her voice was barely a whisper and she talked as though she were in a race. I am over 70, and have age-related hearing loss. The phone number seemed to be a personal cell phone. I had to ask her to repeat the information several times. I have received several calls from this person and the same problems existed with each call.

This was my first time completing a sleep study and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. The directions and prep materials given made it easy to know where to go and I appreciated the center proactively calling me (the day of) to see if I had any questions. My sleep technologist was amazing, very helpful and respectful and caring. She made sure I was comfortable and took the time to go through the entire process with me and explain what all the devices were and what they measured. Overall, a very comfortable experience for a test that is slightly disruptive. I would definitely recommend this Center for Sleep to others needing such a test.

My only complaint is that finding the Sleep Center was difficult. If the directions simply stated that one needs to go to 114 Saundersville Rd and ring the doorbell to be attended, it would be much more simple. The door was locked so I assumed that it was closed. That prompted me to drive around the whole complex looking for the sleep center. Once inside, everything went extremely well.

I don’t know how a person can receive a good result from the sleep study. I had difficulty getting to sleep, I woke when I did get to sleep for reasons that were normal for me twice. At two o’clock I when to sleep when I got back to bed to be woke by the tech just before 5:00. When I got home I went to bed and slept uninterrupted for three more hours. Also there was banging in the hallway that woke me up.

I had a male take care of me while I was there. He respected my religion (Muslim) he respectfully asked if I wanted a female as he noticed I was covered I told him it was okay as this was for my health and he wouldn’t actually be touching me. He had me place the wire under my shirt and I honestly respected that he did that. He was very nice and told me everything he was going to do before he did it. He made sure I was comfortable as I really missed my kids as I’m not use to going 1 night without them. He made sure I was okay and woke me up in a respectful manner. I believe his name was Mr Roger. This place was beautiful and everything was neat. I did notice hand prints on the headboard but I have kids so I know how that can be. Bed was made up very nicely. Not a peace of dust in sight or nothing. Restrooms was clean and neat even when getting up to leave out. Thanks for making sure I was comfortable and checking on me. This was what I call a warm welcome.

I have two complaints with the sleep center in Hendersonville. 1st… The rooms didn’t have a bathroom connected directly to it. You have to leave the room and walk in the hallway to get to the shared bathroom. If you go to the bathroom multiple times a night this is inconvenient. 2nd… The sleep masks are REUSED?! I am definitely not ok with that. You should let people know, so I could have brought my own from my house. The tech said they are cleaned but the forehead pads were greasy. I have had 4 or 5 sleep studies and that was the 1st time I was asked to use a used mask. I ended up having to use a mask that was not like mine at home (because it was a new mask). Which wouldn’t hold a seal. So I question the validity of the results of my sleep study.

Sleep technologist was very kind and helpful. The room was nice. It’s not a very comfortable experience, but that was to be partially expected. Most difficult aspect was the shortness of the wires constricting sleep to the edge of the bed and limiting movement. For those who toss and turn to sleep, longer wires would help allow for a more accurate representation of sleeping conditions and for a less difficult sleeping experience.

The bed was very uncomfortable. Two pillows that were provided were of different sizes, one was a queen size pillow and the other one was a twin bed pillow. A fleece sheet was provided which looked so worn out. The rest room was not attached to the room and it is very inconvenient to go outside the room in pjs and with all the wires into a general hallway to access the restroom. The stay in that small room was not at all comfortable to say the least.

By its nature a sleep study is not necessarily a positive experience. However, a bit more attention to the details might make it a bit better. The technologist, while competent, worked mechanically and without much personability. The room itself was kind of sterile and uninviting, and not conducive to inducing sleep. The lock on one of the bathroom doors did not function properly, and another (female) patient walked in on me (male) while I was in there. And there must be some way under Heaven wherein the electrodes can be applied in a manner that itself does not actually interfere with restful sleep. Apart from those caveats, the overall experience was fair.

The facility and staff were wonderful. I just think as a stomach sleeper being told to sleep on my back is different. As is having a very short length of wires attached from my head to the wall. Overall I'm skeptical. I feel as though I woke up in the exact position I fell asleep in. And that is not normal so I don't see how one nighta test is supposed to be conclusive.

The Technologist was very good. He was kind, attentive, focused, and very respectful, and concerned with my feelings and nervousness. He was on point the whole time and patient with me. I really liked him and he was short staffed and still didn't seam to be upset about not having additional staff to help him. The room was fine, but the furniture seemed stained and worn. It appeared to be less then what I expected. There were stains on the nightstand and headboard which grossed me out. I tested the areas and it seamed to be more of a wear issue then a stain or dirty issue, however.....the look was not pleasent to come into a room where you were going to sleep when you are already nervous to begin with. This is in no way a reflection on the Technolgist.....he was wonderful and I give him a Five star! At the end of the day, I paid $1,751.00 when I arrived, and worn out furniture was not pleasing to me to say the least. I took pictures to document the room if you would like to see them.

I had never had a sleep study prior to last night. Tracy was very informative, telling me what to expect and what she would be doing during the study. I felt confident and comfortable, but have an extremely hard time sleeping with restless legs and the wires attached to me. Tracy was very patient with me and quickly helped me with any needs I had. I wish that I wasn’t so restless. Hopefully, the study picked up on what I might need to receive a good nights sleep.

The facility is woefully in need of an update. I’m sure it’s clean, but it’s so dated and unattractive that it seems dirty. I kept thinking Norman Bates was behind that awful shower curtain. However, I was disappointed that, for some reason, she did not test c-pap on me, which was something she had told me was going to happen.

I was instructed to take my sleep medicine on arrival because They would have me hooked up and in bed in one hour. I was one of 3 patients and the last one to be prepped. I sat for 90 minutes before the tech came in to the room. Then, another 30 minutes before I was set to go to sleep. I timed my medication to be asleep much sooner. Why not stagger arrival times for patients?

I had a hard time sleeping with the wires etc,I don’t think i could sleep more than 1/2 hour. I hope that was enough for any recommendation for diagnosis of sleep apnea! I do think a patient should be told about glue in the hair so one could prepare time for washing hair after leaving! Perhaps a light sedative could be given to assist patient in sleeping! I am very disappointed I did not sleep much as it was a waste of time and sleep! I tried everything melatonin, Tylenol, my own pillows! I was not nervous and the bed was very comfortable as was the room. Mainly sleeping with wires and specially the wires on my temples and face really bothered me!! Jennifer the technician was wonderful and made me feel very comfortable! I just hope some evidence was found about my sleep issues!

The bed was terrible and there really should be a regular mattress option. I couldnt sleep and today I am having neck and back pains. Also not a good Idea to have a sleep center near a train track. When I did fall asleep, the train woke me up. For those 2 reasons, I wouldn't recommend. My tech, Jenny, was amazing and super friendly.

My experience is probably influenced most upon entering the facility. My son is in a wheelchair and requires a lot of supplies for his care. I had 3 queen size pillows for supporting him in bed, a large gym tote with diapers, waterproof bed pads, etc, my purse and a small book tote, carrying all while navigating my son’s wheelchair. The technician walked a smart bit ahead of me. I had to stop halfway when turning a corner to set things down and readjust to make it to the room. Only then did she think about offering to help carry something. I don’t expect special treatment by any means but that set a bad tone for the evening. I was also shocked a hospital bed or even a bed rail was not available.

Experience was great! Bed was relatively comfortable. Sleep Technologist was awesome. She tried 3 different masks, last type did the trick! She clearly communicated all steps in advance. Felt comfortable, although I would recommend using electronic locks to each door to the bathroom. Hearing the click of a door lock in the middle of the night caused some anxiety. I found myself a few times listening for the door lock-set or for the door opening.

Everything was perfect from start to finish! I was even called the morning of the appointment to inquire if I had any questions, which I did not, because I had been so well prepared.The private room itself was very well appointed, with every amenity possible. The bed was SO comfortable, and I was even offered a wedge for my head since I have Congestive Heart failure. My technician was an angel, constantly aware of any necessary changes for mask or equipment-we spent a very enjoyable night together! T, my sleep technologist was wonderful! She was very professional and caring, making sure everything was just right. I can't say enough good things about her. Aside from being extremely happy with her, I noticed a couple of things about the room which had nothing to do with her. The bathroom - had a faint smell of urine when I arrived. And too bad that toilet was installed so close to the sink but I know you can't do anything about that. Also the sink has no real place to set toiletries, etc. on and there's nothing nearby. Maybe a toilet seat with a lid would help, to have another place to set things. Just my 2 cents!

The Tech was great... Nothing against her. However, I believe this center should be more ADA compliant. Everybody with a disability cannot make it to the downtown center. It appears this is the only way a person with a mobility issue can be properly accomodated. This should not be the case. If you offer the service then you should be ADA compliant no matter what location.

There was no mirror in the room, and no shampoo in the shower. Additionally, the technologist woke me up at 5.30 am to tell me I was finished and remove the wires - even though he knew that I was sleeping and had to be at work at 8.00. This seemed completely unnecessary. Why not let me sleep until at least 6? I already had a terrible night's sleep because of all the interruptions and wires - seems cruel to wake me up when I'm finally sleeping! Otherwise it was fine - I would definitely NOT recommend this for ANYBODY! The experience was not pleasant in the least.

The address listed the suite for the sleep center, but no indication was on the outside of the building. I did not get the email that had the instructions to use the door bell beside the main doors to the doctors' offices to get entry. Luckily, another patient was there who had gotten the email with those instructions. It all turned out well, though.

My original contact with Dr. Brevard Haynes was in 2005. I have referred 2 family members, now his patients. I will continue to refer people to him. Jamie, the technician for my 2nd sleep study (insurance related), was great at explaining the timing of everything and the hook-up process, and answered what few questions I had left. She introduced herself at the beginning and mentioned her name again later, which is a good practice.

I think my technician’s name was Audrey. She’s been employed there for 17 years. She was very cool calm and collected with me as I had a phobia about in or around my face. I did have a slight panic attack after the 1st hr and 1/2 and she let me work it out and told me how well I had done to start. The rest of the night went as well as I expected. Had to get up several times to urinate, but was able to go right back into the mask. Thank you for understanding and helping me!

Suggest wearing warmer PJ's. Mine were summer short type. Lamp on table did not work. Throughout the night I heard noises (voices, knocks, banging). Not sure if this contributed to my not being able to sleep. Of course, having to deal with all those wires didn't help. Understand that is part of the process. I was supposed to have the sleep study on Thurs night and all day Friday. Friday morning they woke me to say I would not be staying for the day for me to leave. They did not know anything . I am upset because I had to take a vacation day off for this study which prevented me from being paid for any Overtime for that pay period. No one could tell me anything on why they were not keeping me. I did get a report from the dr the following Monday that I had sleep apnea but I was being tested for Narcolepsy. I was just in a sleep study a year ago for sleep apnea and did not have it. I sleep great at night...I sleep all the time! I left there confused and afraid because I thought I did something wrong or that something bad was going on. They need to change their process on when they send someone home earlier than they are supposed to. They need to give them information on why. They should have woken me up the moment they knew they were not keeping me so I could have left to go home

For people who like to read (ME) there was insufficient lighting for reading in the very comfortable recliner. Also the bedside lamp had on-off switch that was so tricky that the the sleep technologist saw my struggles to turn off the lamp and came to the room to help. Also, as a male, if I should have to repeat this testing, I would wear an adult diaper to avoid calling for assistance to go to the bathroom!!! Re 3rd item above, I didn't make the contact, my doctor's office did this. Also I didn't see my doctor when I left so no score.

The room was quite small and there was not a window or a clock in the room. The bathroom was odd that it was a shared bath. Previous sleep studies that I have had at other facilities in the past always had a window, a clock, and a private bath. There was no shampoo or a hair dryer that was found in the bathroom. There was a storm watch on the night that I was at the center. Info on what to do in the event of moving to a place of safety was not provided and it should be. My tech. was excellent and was the best part of the sleep study. I would suggest that you take steps to make the room/bathroom more accommodating to the patients.

Also, it would be great to offer a small cot to people that have to accompany patients and spend the night. A recliner is not appropriate for sleeping. Tracy was very kind as I was having trouble getting to sleep! I had to go to the bathroom twice but she came and unhooked me from the base and told me not to worry about it at all. It was hard to sleep with all the wires attached to me. I felt I couldn’t move once I layed down. The ones on my head hurt when trying to sleep. They were pressing on my head against the pillow. The tech was very nice and efficient and the facility was very clean.

I am worried that I did not get a good reading because I didn't sleep well. My room was freezing cold. Even though the technologist brought in two blankets I was still freezing. I'm sure I slept but I felt like I was awake most of the night. The thermostat was on 90 and it wouldn't go any higher. It never seemed like it kicked on. The mattress was amazing and similar to what I have at home.

It was different than the other sleep study I had. They put on a machine on halfway through, on my nose. And the machine made me feel like I was gasping for air. I couldn't breathe and when I woke up my mouth was so dry and my eyes had so much eye caca . I was so happy to leave and get a drink and take my asthma inhaler to help me breathe. I am so tired still. I dont feel like I got a good night's sleep.

You may not be able to do anything to change this but I found it odd that a garbage truck comes and empties the dumpster at 5:30 in the morning when the dumpster is directly next to the window of people sleeping and having a sleep study done. The only complaint I really have is the room the furniture, although the bed slept good it sure doesn’t look inviting to me the room I know is clean doesn’t look clean at all. I was confused by the apparently contradictory instructions sent to me: bring and take usual medications while at the sleep center, but refrain from using sleep-inducing substances, caffeinated products or alcohol prior to checking in. I had started a prescription sedative-hypnotic four or five days prior to the sleep lab night, I did not take it in the 24 hours before checking in. I still don't' know if that is what I was supposed to do, though the medication made no difference in the consistency or length of sleep at my home. The doctor suggested that I'd had a rough night. I did have several episodes of leg cramps. It was unclear whether or not the graphs printed out showed when these problems took place, nor if they corresponded to markings on the printout. It seems I have insomnia and some minor apnea, am to take more medication, use a CPAP for 90 days, tele-something with Dr. Haynes?

I felt my study was predestined to confirm sleep apnea. I really think one should sleep more than two hours before a study can be accurate. If my mind does not shut off then i do not sleep. I still have reservations about investing in one of these expensive machines if it is not a guarantee i will sleep better.

I had my sleep study at Midtown in Nashville.I previously had one in Murfreesboro Tn.There is no comparison to these places.I was greeted by Jamie my sleep technologist.She was professional,nice.and courteous.She knew her job and did it well.When she came in this morning to remove the wires she brought me a big cup of coffee.She told me when I was ready to leave she would walk me to the lobby.I actually got a good nights sleep.I forgot to drop my satisfactory patient survey in the box on my way out.I will take it in about 3 weeks to the sleep center or mail it.It was worth driving the extra 35 miles to have such a great experience.Thanks

My physical impairments were not considered by the doctor when arranging this test. I am disabled and the room did not work well for my needs. I did not complain to the technician because I knew she could not change anything. When I told my wife in private my expertise was horrible, the technician put in her notes that I complained about “everything”. I think that was an unfair assessment of my attitude snd I did not appreciate her notes.

Suggest you include a recliner chair in the room. I believe I would have been able to sleep more comfortably in a recliner than flat on a bed after being hooked up to all the wires, especially when requested by the sleep technologist to sleep on my back for a portion of the study.. Provide a recliner, if possible, and give the patient the choice.

I interpreted my initial written instructions as my being able to sleep until 6:30, which is what I planned to do. I told my wife I would be home about 6:45. I was awakened at 5AM. My sleep tech told me that I could stay in my room until 6:30, but I could NOT get back in the bed, nor could I sleep in the recliner. I cannot figure that out, no matter how much I try.

I can't say enough positive things about our experience. Jenny Mangrum was absolutely phenomenal. We struggled for several years and with another sleep center to get a sleep study on our five year old. Jenny got us scheduled quickly, and helped me navigate doctor referrals and insurance. Her professionalism and communication was top notch. She ended up helping us with several sleep studies. We are a family of five who all have Obstructive sleep apnea, four requiring surgery, and 3 or 4 various types breathing machines, so we've had a LOT of experience with hospitals/clinics/medical offices. This was by far the best experience I have ever had! She was so so wonderful during a super stressful time. She was absolutely what healthcare should be and very much deserves to be recognized. Everyone we came in contact there was so helpful, but she really stands out. THANK YOU so much!!!

Overall our experience was good. As a parent I was frustrated as my 3 year old daughter was the patient. We explained to the sleep center that our child typically goes to bed between 7:45-8. They told us we could arrive at 7:30 to help accommodate her bedtime. The technician did not start the process until 8:45 and it was almost 10:00 before the lights were out and she was able to go to sleep. By this point she was upset and irritable. While the technician was great and patient, I think the process could have been streamlined to accommodate a young patient.

Cons: The room had a slightly strange odor. This may have been related to the equipment because it smelled a bit like an old mix master. I would have liked a brighter light at the desk for reading. I moved my chair to the entrance area to read under that ceiling light. Pros: Thoroughly enjoyed my tech. She carefully explained paperwork, procedures, wiring, machinery, etc. We also chatted about quite a few other things including children, virtual schooling, and pets. She woke me as needed, but mostly let me sleep, unlike during my previous study when I must have been awakened 25 times. This tech. even allowed me to sleep until 6:00. During my previous test, I think I was awakened around 4:30 to be told that the test was completed and to go home. Perhaps procedures have changed in the past couple of years, or perhaps my needs have changed, but I appreciate that I actually feel rested today.

Bed was comfy. But I could hear people in other rooms which kept me from falling asleep and staying asleep. I had to work while there and the chair and desk were very uncomfortable. I ended up with a horrible migraine due to different factors; might want to advise people to bring headache medications with them. The food was really pretty bad; I understand it is hospital food and not much you can do. The techs were super nice.

I would like to strongly suggest that parents of children under 5 be directed to another form of study. The study itself seems to have traumatized my almost 4 y/o son. He had nightmares and woke up screaming “no stickers” from a dead sleep last night at home. Any item that looks like a long string scares him into saying “no sticker” an example, my macrame thread. It just was not the best route for my son, I regret not being more informed about his possible negative reaction. I truly hope that the results from this testing will provide useful information for us to move forward on the path to keeping my sons breathing healthy and at its best. I am hopeful that he will be receptive at our next Dr visit.

I am so sorry to hear that your child had such a negative reaction to the wires.  We make every attempt to keep this procedure as easy as possible for our littlest patients.  Honestly, most seem to handle it quite nicely.  Hopefully the data acquired will be useful enough to circumvent the negativity of the testing.

My sleep tech was outstanding. She made me very comfortable, and explained everything very well as it was being done. Unfortunately I was actually TOO tired that night, so the test needs to be done again. But after my first trip I'm actually looking forward to going back. I expected it to be more medical ie, a hospital room. It was a great experience and I would recommend it to anybody. One more thing, I'm so sorry but I forgot my techs name, but I would love to have her again when I come back.

I could not get relaxed due to a chronic pain in my right hip. I told the technician that being in a recliner was better for me; however, the numerous connections to my head and body were not long enough to reach the recliner. This caused me to be very uncomfortable even with my back and head propped up in the bed. Accommodations should be met for people that have RA and cannot lay down due to it.

It's hard to go back to sleep when you have to leave a dark room to a bright hallway to use the restroom. So bedside commodes would be helpful. My tech Jenny was completely awesome. Love her. She is very respectful and a delightful person to talk to. She even talked me into a CPAP, which no one has ever been able to do. Quite an accomplishment. Lol Great job Jenny !!!!!! You're good !!!

Did not like that I had a conjoined bathroom and that I didn’t have the option to lock it from the side of my room to keep the other patient from being able to come in my room. This is a feature that should be considered for privacy and possibly for safety precautions and peace of mind. My only complaint, otherwise everything was excellent.

I asked if the thermostat worked and was told it “kinda did” the thermostat was not working and we burnt up all night. Which made my son toss a little more. We are used to sleeping in a cool environment and our last sleep studies with Vanderbilt we were able to keep it cooler. Please fix thermostat!! Tech was amazing though!!

My only complaint was that the room thermostat did not work. My room temperature stayed between 78 and 80 degrees making it very difficult to sleep. I usually sleep with a room temperature at 65 degrees.

The study was for our 2 yr old son. Despite the facility being very clean/comfortable and our technologist being sweet and very professional, I would never recommend a sleep study for a child this young, unless it was absolutely necessary. Our little guy was miserable most of the night, and it was impossible for him to keep the nasal sensors and the heart rate and oxygen sensor to stay on his fingers or toes. I’m not sure what, if anything, the study was able to capture. Oddly enough, our ENT made it sound like the sleep study would be no big deal for our toddler. I wish I had known how upsetting & uncomfortable it would be for him beforehand. Lesson learned, and I just pray we’re able to determine something without having to do a 2nd one. Also, I had a few questions before we arrived, but I was unable to get anyone to pick up the phone or call me back. Would have been nice to know about your holiday/day after holiday hours via a recorded message or an website update.

McGuire was very professional about his job, but then he was also compassionate. I was very anxious about this study, being that with Covid 19 I never leave home. He waited till I was at ease before starting my prep. He also interacted with my granddaughter as well. He wasn't in a rush to start things. He was gentle and informative during the the positioning of the leds as not to cause me any discomfort. I don’t think you pay any attention to surveys and feel like it is useless when you do not make changes. The mattresses are inferior and worn in the same spot used over and over. The memory foam sinks you into an uncomfortable position. How can you get good results when so uncomfortable? Very noisy especially with train passing by. Remote did not work for the television. Had to be turned on at the set. Same thing to turn off! How can that be! No signage on the outside of the building. Inferior facility. I did a study a little over a year ago at this same place and did this same survey and see no improvement. I will not go back to this facility again. Excellent technicians.I hope you value them. They turned the mattress around to the firm side so I could finally get to sleep. Please look at your facility and check out the issues. Why not even have one of the CEOs do a sleep study to check it out?

We do indeed read and evaluate each and every response, thank you for taking the time to share with us.  Regarding the mattress, I am so sorry you had a bad experience.  We will make every effort to correct.  In response to the train noise, we also are frustrated about the noise from the train.  Did you mention the train noise to your tech?  We do have noice cancelling machines to attempt to block the unwanted sounds.  Some people are really bothered by the train noise and others don't even notice.  We attempt to reach each patient where they are regarding this.  Thanks for acknowledging your technician, we have the best staff in the field of sleep in my opinion and it is always great when they are recognized.  Feedback, both negative and postive, is the main way we improve our service so your willingness to share is greatly appreciated.

Why do you wake patients up at 5 A.M? After taking all the tubes and mask off, it was 5:30. The sleep technologist then left with all the lights on. and left a cop of coffee across the room from my bed As I use a cane, I did not drink the coffee.I turned the overhead light off and waited to get dressed until 630. The physician, Brevard Haynes, came at 7 A.M.

This was the most pleasant experience I had at a Sleep Center. I thought I was lost so I called for directions. The technician was so very patient in helping me get my barren (at night) as to where I needed to go. She stayed on the phone with me until I found my way. Once I was received into The Sleep Ctr, Jaime (my technician) was FANTASTIC! She explained EVERYTHING to me and gave me comfort that I was in good hands as she could tell that I was gravely concerned about my health issues. Jaime has a PHENOMENAL spirit and caring for people is her calling. The way she speaks is like an angel that is assuring that she has my health (for the study) as her major concern and mission. And she ABSOLUTELY did JUST THAT! She calmed me down so very much! She is EVERYTHING!! I wish her much success in her career and her life's vision and direction. I would refer anyone to Dr. Kelly Carden and her team! I just know that God directed me to this practice just as I KNOW that Dr. Carden will take GREAT care of me. God bless EVERYONE in that practice.

Milette, my sleep technologist was very kind and informative. I was nervous about the test and his demeanor put me at ease. He was also very attentive during the night when I needed to use the restroom. The negative about my room is the remote control for the TV did not work at all. Milette was able to turn it on manually, but I was not able to adjust the volume, change the channel nor turn the TV off. When Milette wired me up for the night, he turned off the TV for me. I probably should have asked him earlier for his help to turn down the volume but didn't want to bother him with a non-medical request.

Study did not accurately portray my issues. With little sleep it wasn't a true representation of how bad. I felt the next morning after the test showing how bad my sleep is without the machine. Was told it didn't qualify when I questioned why I wasn't given one. The reason for the study was to see why with my machine I was having issues not to see if I had issues without it. Myself and the Dr knows there's issues without it. I and him needed to know what issues I am having with the machine using it. Very dissatisfied and disappointed in the study. Hopefully the Dr also realized this and will reschedule another study to help find the issues. If not I feel changing Drs and hospital will be the best. Staff was great. The study very poor.

“G” was my technician and he did an amazing. I had trouble the first time I had a sleep study but hehe was knowledgeable and nice. He needs to be the manager or atleast a raise!

Jenny was perfect!!! She’s in the right job. Sharing a bathroom is gross. Also, the locks are EXTREMELY loud. I don’t want to know every time the other patient goes to the bathroom.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the bathroom issue.  We make every attempt to correct each and every negative issue and will work on resolving the noise issue.  Unfortunately we do have a few sites where shared bathrooms are our only option.  We do however have some sites that have private bathrooms.  Should you need to revisit us for any reason, please let the scheduling person know you want private bathroom options only and they will share where you can test and have a private bathroom.

Had sleep study last night and needed C-Pap during the night. They woke me this morning and I felt so refreshed. Best night sleep in a long time. Even better was waking up refreshed without a headache and that foggy feeling. I’m excited to see my doctor tomorrow. Can’t wait to get my Cpap machine. I’ve been in and around several sleep labs both professionally and personally since diagnosed with severe OSA Spring 2007. The Center for Sleep is by far the best and most professionally run lab I’ve ever been in over the years as both a patient and a clinician in neurology and sleep medicine. From the precert process to instructions plus Dr. Alexander’s clinical skills, I am very glad I have chosen this practice to take over my chronic sleep disorder care. My polysomnargphy sleep technician is by far the best sleep tech I’ve had the pleasure of doing the multiple studies over the last 13 years. She explained things well and treated me with upmost care and respect for my other medical issues. Too bad there are no optional schedules for those of us who are “night owls” I did all I could to try to make myself sleep in your schedule but it just didn’t happen. I never got comfortable and slept very little. Then came home and sledge hammered my way through six hour of sleep Guess I just am not a good subject for things the way they are currently set.

We do offer sleep testing schedules that are outside of the traditional sleep times.  We are not able to offer these times unless it is ordered that way by your ordering physician.  If you should need to have another sleep test for any reason please ask your ordering physician to request sleep testing at your sleep schedule and we will be happy to accomodate.  Thanks for taking the time to reply to your survey and share this valuable information.

Did not feel safe or secure in case of fall or need of assistance. No call light provided in room or bathroom. No sense of medically trained staff.

I am so sorry that you did not feel safe regarding falls.  There are no call lights in your room because we monitor by video in each room during your stay.  All staff are required to be a registered polysomnographic technologist, meaning that they have extensive medical, emergency, and sleep training.  All feedback is valuable to us and helps us to improve upon our service.   Your feedback is much appreciated.

Just wish my overall sleep would not been so interrupted by loud instructions of what I was not doing right when I was told it was fine to do what I said I was going to do when I slept. Was awakened at least 5 times during the night which I believe had an affect on the overall test that I was there for in the first place

The one wire that’s only about 18 inches to 2 feet long needs to be longer. We’re restrained like a dog on a short lease . Everything u Turk in your sleep you have about 2 inches of slack and have to sleep on 1/4 of the bed.... Dan strand

My only complaint would be as you arrive & depart the sleep center it’s dark & there is no security. I felt like maybe patients should be to call tech & tech could meet patient downstairs. Patients have to park in an empty garage at night; take elevators or stairs up: ring doorbell/speaker....out in the dark while awaiting for tech. It just seems dangerous. Once I was in I felt safe but then on morning of discharge you leave around 5:30A; once again it’s dark & no one there to escort patients to their car. I have taken family members to Vandy & you arrive at a hotel where at least you can immediately go into the lobby to wait for tech to bring you up. In addition their tests end between 6:30A & 7A where there is more daylight. That’s my only complaint: safety during arrival & discharge.

The experience was as good as it possibly could be. The room was as comfortable as staying in an upscale hotel. The room even had showers. The initial office visit and interview were professional, courteous, and helpful. Sleep study wasn't a holiday but came close. The room was attractive, comfortable and pleasant. Anita, the attendant, was super-attentive and sweet. I was surprised at how restful the evening was despite electrodes and monitors. Follow-up appointment for results still to come but if a sleep study is suggested, I would recommend St. Thomas without hesitation.
